Hey everyone,
I came across this message on the Northeast Radical Herbalist listserv. I thought you all would be interested in hearing about this documentary, and might be interested in helping out (one way or another). It looks like an extraordinarily worthwhile and well-done project. So I wanted to do my part to spread the word.
Best,
Nevada

Hey everyone,
I am in search of a room in an Earth-conscious, clean and clear house to set anchor for next school year (I'm a student at Naropa)
beginning in August. It would be great to be able to have a garden and help implement green techniques with others with similar interests. I figured it would be a good idea to ask the Mandala community, and like-minded folks, if anyone knows of anything or a friend looking for a roommate. I'm pretty busy, responsible, clean, laid-back, and love…

Eating healthy is a core tenet of the Mandala Philosophy and eating local does that in a way that creates a deeper community connection while assuring the freshest food. The CSA movement of Community Supported Agriculture allows for locals to support their regional farms. Here are some of the best:

“The most powerful form of medicine is to uplift the spirit of the person.” This knowledge has permeated my understanding of the healing process since I first consciously encountered my inner healer in massage school, studying Japanese massage and the fundamentals of Craniosacral therapy. When I first heard this wisdom, passed on from an oriental master healer, my inner spirit responded, “of course!” And yet, this was only the beginning of my journey into the unknown avenues I would be led throu…

Hello!!
I am very interested in purchasing a CSA share (Cure farm is sold out, but it looks like Abbondanza farm still has shares available) for this growing season. They are expensive and i would like to split the cost with anyone interested. It may get a little complicated with a bunch of people having small shares of the share... But whatever works. I am looking at a partial share: 500 or a Whole share: 650 (<-- seems like a much better deal!!).
Spinach - Lettuce - Asian Greens - Arugula…

I just returned from a retreat of total luxury in Strawberry Hot Springs, CO. The whole experience was opulence at its best — the quiet mountains and rushing flow of water down the creek; the steamy, mineral-rich water pouring down from the hillside; floating freely through the hot, sulfury pools; breathing in the cool, refreshing mountain air. Three days of complete rest and relaxation - it was pure enjoyment!
As I relished in the feeling of abundance in my mountain paradise, what occurred to…

There's no time like the present to write a blog about having a cough and a cold, as I am currently suffering from both!
In the past when getting sick, I might have bought medicine over the counter, like Robitussin or something meant to ease/suppress the symptoms. Now I am of the mind that the illness needs to run its course, and get rid of stuff, which is why the cough exists in the first place, trying to protect the body from infection.
With my experience over the years receiving acupuncture…

The idea behind Commoner Health is a commoner (a non-practitioner) talking about health issues from her own experience so far, as well as the hope to make health more common in the world.
In my own personal experience, I have found that a large majority of people leave the fate of their health "to the experts" while ignoring their own instincts and intuitions. The knowledge and wisdom of health practitioners is invaluable, (I do not mean to imply otherwise) but alongside this wisdom, I am seeki…

Myth: To avoid heart disease, we should use margarine instead of butter.
Truth: Margarine eaters have twice the rate of heart disease as butter eaters. (Nutrition Week 3/22/91 21:12)

Truth: Animal fats contain many nutrients that protect against cancer and heart disease; elevated rates of cancer and heart disease are associated with consumption of large amounts of vegetable oils. (Fed Proc July 1978 37:2215)

The Glycemic Index (GI) is a numerical Index that ranks carbohydrates based on their rate of conversion to glucose during digestion. Carbohydrates are ranked on a scale of 0 to 100, as the more rapidly a certain food causes a rise in blood sugar, the high value it is given. 100% glucose serves as a reference point, marking 100 on the GI scale. A higher glycemic index suggests faster rates of digestion and absorption of the sugars and starches in the foods and may also indicate lesser extraction…
